What a great night of music at Espresso Joe’s! Lazlo’s Guitar Pulls are always unique. This time, he brought together Jason Kundrath, Paul Rosevear, and me. We played our songs in round robin style, trading stories and memories as we went.
There was a spirit of camaraderie and even a spontaneous collaboration! Paul Rosevear joined me during my song “Walking On” to add some electric guitar. Lola captured it on video… check it out! http://youtu.be/33yxO80_pYY
On Tuesday, December 29th I was joined by Ardith Collins on cello for a nice little acoustic performance in the upstairs lounge.
Here are Ardith and the sound guy doing a little pre-show phone check.
Here is the setlist. We were able to pack a bunch of tunes in the set, including a folk tune (Who’s Gonna Shoe?), an 80s classic (Melt With You), a 90s one-hit wonder (Your Woman), a modern day cover (Loveland), and a bunch of my original songs. Oh… and… ummm… Britney Spears. There was some of that, too. I also experimented using looping pedals. One for the voice. One for the guitar. Worked out quite well and allowed me to add some additional layering.
Here is a post-gig photo of Ardith and I.
And finally, here’s a video of us performing “Loveland,” by Milky Chance. If you can’t see the embedded video below, you can watch it on YouTube right here: https://youtu.be/aXiP5vtfhuw
On Sunday, November 15th, I had a blast playing with Christina Alessi & the Toll Collectors at Rockwood Music Hall, Stage 1. Check out some photos and the setlist below!
I had a really great evening performing at Pianos Upstairs Lounge on Thursday, August 27th.
Ardith joined me on cello for an evening filled with original music, cover songs, and picklebacks. We even had a chance to extend the setlist with a few extra songs! Can’t wait to do it again sometime soon.
Kristy couldn’t be there, so Ardith and I represented 2/3 double-breasted (single-breasted?) at Canal Day this past Saturday. I stepped out from behind the drum kit to play guitar. Our setlist was a fun one… Josh songs, double-breasted songs, and cover songs that spanned a wide range of folk tunes made popular by Pete Seeger to Britney Spears to 80s classics. It was a great turnout and a great time.
Here we are playing under the gazebo.
Here is Ardith making some setlist notes.
And here is the setlist.
Ardith will be joining me for another show at Pianos Upstairs Lounge in NYC on Thursday, August 27th. 7pm. Don’t miss it!
Wharton Spring Concert Series. Hugh Force Canal Park. Wharton, NJ. July 19, 2015.
This was technically the “Spring” concert series. But after the first date was cancelled due to rain, the reschedule date wound up on the hottest day of the year so far! I sweated through my shirt entirely, but nonetheless had a blast playing outdoors in a beautiful setting for a super attentive crowd.
We are playing a wedding this weekend and then our next show is on Wednesday, August 19th in Cape May, NJ at the historic Chalfonte Hotel.
Christina Alessi and the Toll Collectors at Finnegan’s in Hoboken, NJ. July 11, 2015.
Three sets of pure fun. Covers, originals, and a great crowd. Who knew the Brandi Carlile tune would be the most popular?
Leading up to this show, we had an epic, A/C-less rehearsal. Which resulted in the following elevator photo op. The band that sweats together, takes elevator selfies together.
First, a solo acoustic show at Bowery Electric. Sunday, March 15th. This place had a great vibe and an even better sound system and sound guy.

Espresso Joe’s Guitar Pull
I finished up the week with a unique show on Saturday, March 21st – A Guitar Pull sponsored by blowupradio.com. I had a fantastic time getting to meet and share the stage with David Bronson and Mike Regrets.
We took turns playing songs, talking about writing, recording, and everything in between. I always enjoy playing at Espresso Joe’s. Not only because they hosted my photography for a month back in November, but because the audience is top notch. They sit, listen, and pay attention to the show for the entire duration. It’s such a joy to see places like this still exist and I’m always so happy to play there.
